Some beaches are opening, with or without certain restrictions. My favorite beach, Sandy Hook, NJ, is open with some restrictions.

I try to imagine how it is under the current rulings. Walking on the beach in a g-string with a face mask that is two or three times bigger than the suit. Also the new tan line will be quite unusual.

Last Wednesday I was at the beach of Sandy Hook, NJ, my beach to go. I prefer the quiet part of the beach. That is the bay side of the north tip of the peninsula. It is a 20 minute walk through soft sand so it is not popular with the general public. Last visit I saw about 10 people, mainly going fishing.
That is also the reason the beach is not maintained at all. The park rangers are patroling now and then and that is it. A lot of floating stuff lands on the beach and also a lot of large shells. Walking over those shells can be quite painful but also harmful. Even with careful walking over the beds of shells, some cuts may occur. And last Wednesday I got a cut in my big toe. And with walking, it is not comfortable at all.
So I checked the Internet for plastic or rubber shoes to be able to walk on the shells but also in the water. I found possibilities at the Crocs website. I'm not a fan of Crocs, mainly because of their ugly originals (that is in my eyes). In the mens section I saw one possibility but I found it a bit bulky. When I checked the ladies part, I found more suitable beach shoes and at less than half of the price of the male model. I ordered a sort of ballet flat model and I will pick it up today. They are still a little bulky looking so it is not too femenine in my eyes. I'm curious to see how this goes.

Yesterday was a reasonable day for a beach visit. The weather forecasts are a bit of a gamble so even with an unfavorable outlook, you have to take your chances. And it turned out very good on my first ride to the beach.
It started quite cold, 14C (57F) and cloudy. At the beach it was still the same temperature but with the clouds breaking, it became nice. I arrived at 11:00 and left at 16:30. I had the beach to myself (north tip, bay side) and saw 3 people all together, a man with a fishing rod and a strolling couple.

Yesterday was a very warm day so ideal for the beach. I normally go to the bay side of the north part of the beach but a part of it was closed up by the rangers. But my part was accessible but only a few fishermen were there. In effect I had the beach for myself. I could walk around as I pleased.

I started with the one pieces and later the really small ones.

I ordered two thongs from Jovana Design, a 4D thong and a 4D micro thong. I received them a few days ago but before I could try them on, I had to trim my winter bush.
Both cover just the naughty but nothing more. The micro thong is slightly smaller than the other. The 4D thong is a green mesh and the micro is a gold laser fabric. I fall between M and L so I order L to have a more relaxed fit. For this model I ordered M to accentuate the 4D-effect.
I'm ready for the summer.

Around 1980, a new type of bottom came to light, the clip bikini. Those replacements for bikinis were clips that stayed on thanks to a plastic covered steel wire frame. At first there was the bottom part. I saw them in use in St Tropez, France and later in Holland. Also a top was later introduced that was hooked around the side of the body and almost invisible from behind.
Then the bottom existed of two triangles, sewed to the frame. Being an engineer, I liked the idea and tried to make one for myself. For the frame I used the wire from a coathanger. After some bending I had a frame that stayed on quite firm. I covered the frame with some leftover fabric of my sister's sewing projects.
I went to the beach and walked around with it. In those days, people were not that prude as they are now and certainly not in Holland.
It felt very nice and I could walk easily with it, it stayed on firm. I also went into the sea with it to see if it stayed on in the water. No problem at all. Because of the back triangle it had better staying power, not like the present C-strings with only a vertical strip between your cheeks.
A week later I went to the beach again. It was in the weekend so it was quite crowded. I made a long beach walk and when I was in the middle of a crowded part of the beach, the frame snapped. It fell on the sand, leaving me totally naked in the middle of a crowd. I dove to the sand and pulled the pieces up and covered my front and back. With two hands holding the contraption, I walked back to my spot. I was too busy saving the moment that I have no idea if there were any reactions of the public. After examination, it appeared that the salt water of the sea had corroded the metal frame.
Later I made C-strings with plastic covered steel wire for use on garden fences. That was much sturdier. Like the one in the picture.
