My wife and I thong together when we can as well. It's pretty awesome. I think the general acceptance of girls in thongs helps the thong wearing dude.

At the Beach / First time - South Beach

First time thonging in public a few months ago. There were a few people around but not packed. I caught a few looks but nothing was said, no stares or anything. This is a random suit from amazon, nothing fancy. Compared to other thongs it takes a while to dry which caused me some issues later when we went to lunch. Overall it was a lot of fun to be out in minimal swim wear.

Hey guys, saying hi. Just joined. I have been doing more and more thonging since COVID and appreciate this board. I'm middle age, married with kids, and my wife doesn't seem to mind and sometimes seems supportive. We both wear swim thongs when we can at the beach or the lake.
