Well, I created this thread inspired by yours. As my English is not very good I thought yours was only for trousers and I created a more general thread. The reason I've included the x-dressing is because I've read some threads where there's who use man panties and even women panties that fit good in some men.

One of my close friends is straight and it’s his birthday soon, was thinking of buying him a thong.  We have chatted about almost everything and are really open with each out.  He’s even told me about his fetish for using butt plugs... do you think buying him a thong would be good or bad idea?

I think it's a good idea. As you tell, he looks open-minded, so that gift may be a begining to wear thongs for him.

I went out to my local beach early yesterday. On my way I got a text from a woman I know asking if I was going to be there. She then texted that she and her friend would be there and asked me to join them. I got there first set up and they arrived shortly after. They both are aware of my swimwear choices and are not only accepting but very much approve of my choice. We were set up in a fairly busy part of the beach. As soon as I took off my short shorts revealing the thong of the day (Buffedbod Hoist thong). I was told that my suit was cute and they very much liked this one. As the day went on we had  some other people join us (family with adult children 18-21 and the wife‘s sister). I went into the water a few times with everyone. All were very open to what I wore, even happy that I was exposing more cheek that any one else on the beach. It was one of the best days I’ve had at the beach in a long time. We were all laughing, telling stories and enjoying the sun. We had several discussions about Nude beaches in America. Had I been to any, yes. What were they like? Where was the closest one? There were a few discussions about swimwear and what people preferred to wear and why. Some the conversation turned a bit risqué, all in good fun.

Which actions do you think underwear brands should do to normalize male thongs? (with this I don't mean thongs would become in the most worn underwear by men, just not to be considered as a freak if you wear it).
I think they should sell their thongs in physical shops, specially in those shops where youngest potentially wearers buy their clothes and underwear because if they see thongs next to boxer briefs, they would consider thongs as an option more. I think this is important because most of underwear brands offer thongs in their catalogue, but they're only available on the internet and if underwear is usually bought in phisycal shops, only people with special interest is going to buy thongs. Even more, I think the probability to take atention to thongs in a physical shop is higger than in an online shop, specially if thongs are in a different section of the target of buyer.

In my opinion, youngest wearer should have priority for brands because they probably haven't got the same prejudices that people in their 30's or 40's, encore when you're young you do what the group do at that age (the group probably wouldn't have prejudices if they see thongs in shop next to typical male underwear) and thus that market action would be more rentable, which is probaly another reason why it's very difficult to find thongs in a physical shop.
