I have traveled plenty while wearing a thong. For me, it really depends on how long the travel time is. I've been on 5+ hour flights and driven for 5+ hours as well and it can get uncomfortable at times. I've noticed that my smaller thongs, or a G-string thong, tend to do better for extended travel. A more full thong can still bunch or ride up causing discomfort.

I have two pairs of this thong from Jockey. I like them, they're very comfortable. They do sit pretty high on the waist and that causes the waistband to roll over and also causes a whale tail from time to time if I'm not paying attention. I typically like my thongs to sit lower on my hips.

The movie John Tucker Must Die has a part where it becomes popular for guys to the wear thongs.

I wear my thongs to the gym and I change in the locker room. I haven't had any issues with it, would catch a few looks from other guys every now and then. But for the most part, no one really cares. I had a good encounter with a guy that had his stuff in a locker next to mine. I had just dried off from a shower and was only wearing a plain black thong. We had an entire conversation and he said nothing about my thong. I thought it was pretty cool.

Wore a black Hanes X-Temp thong to the gym today. Changed into a purple one after my workout. Definitely got noticed putting it on. 

My go to thongs lately have been iKingsky thongs. I have them in modal and spandex material in different colors. For the longest time, all I wore was the Murano brand cotton thongs.
