Kiniki (UK Brand)
« on: August 14, 2022, 05:04:00 AM »
A while back, I ordered a few thongs from England-based Kiniki, who specialises in tan-through swimwear. Kiniki makes swimwear for both men and women, and underwear just for men. Their selection is wide, and features a variety of cuts, which I appreciate. The brand seems to have everything on sale very frequently, perhaps as a marketing tactic. The brand proudly states that everything is made in England. In total, I got two thongs, a g-string, and as well as a tan-through swim thong, all of which I will be reviewing below.

1. Alex Thong (£8.95)

This thong is made of cotton and elastane, and I frankly thought the material was very nice. I wasn't very fond of the relatively thin strap waistband, which I occasionally twisting. The front section of the thong doesn't feature a pouch but is relatively roomy, and didn't squeeze the package. As such the bulge isn't prominent, making it suitable for more professional settings. One thing I did not like was the back, which I found to be too wide, making prolonged use rather uncomfortable. Likewise, given the rather wide back, also didn't make look particularly agreeable nor sexy. The quality of the build seems pretty good and it stays in shape.

Fit: 4/5
Look: 3/5
Comfort: 3/5
Quality: 5/5

2. Newton Thong £9.95

The look of the thong really reminds me of the excellent HOM Plumes String, although with a much wider back. This thong is made of polyester and spandex, but I thought that the elasticity of the material wasn't great. Unlike the Alex Thong though, I really liked the minimal string waistband, which stayed in place. Again, the front section of the thong doesn't feature a pouch but the relatively inelastic material made it feel a lot tighter compared to the Alex Thong. Obviously this didn't make a protruding bulge, making it likewise suitable for more professional settings. I also found the back to be too wide as well, making prolonged use rather uncomfortable.

Fit: 2/5
Look: 3/5
Comfort: 2.5/5
Quality: 4/5

3. Oxford G-string £8.95

This was my third G-String and unfortunately my least favourite. It is made of cotton and elastane, similar to the Alex Thong. It looks like a g-string as one ought to expect, although I found it to be rather tight. The waistband wasn't particularly elastic and can feel rather tight. The front section was likewise tight on the package, and combined with the waistband, it didn't make the g-string especially comfortable. However, I did really like the look of it, particularly from the back. Despite that, I found the build to be very good and it does look like it could last prolonged periods of use.

Fit: 2/5
Look: 4/5
Comfort: 2/5
Quality: 4/5

4. Azure Tan-through Swim Thong £17.95

The tan-through line is their flagship product and I was especially keen to try it out. Fortunately, I was able to use it during a beach holiday and was very satisfied with the tan-through aspect of the product. The fabric itself is sheer and practically see-through, but still hides one's private parts due to its distracting colourful pattern. As such it worked excellently for tanning, and I also very much like the look of the thong itself. The fit was relatively good and there was enough room for the package, although I thought the waistband could be a little more elastic. The quality was also nice, and it's served me well over the summer.

Fit: 4/5
Look: 5/5
Quality: 5/5
Comfort: 4/5
Functionality 5/5

All things considered, I found Kiniki to be a rather average brand for their thong underwear. They weren't necessarily very comfortable compared to other brands, but I would rather wear them over other underwear cuts (in the absence of other thongs). I did find their tanning swim thong to be excellent and something I'd recommend from the brand.

I never understood Kiniki. I would not want tan through swimwear. The whole point is to get that delicious thong tan line. Why would anyone want to prevent that.

Hi @dapotatoman23 - great reviews. I'm a big fan of Kiniki underwear in general and wear both their briefs and thongs. I pretty much agree with all of your reviews.

I've found the Newton thong to be their best underwear thong. It's a flat pouch but I still find it comfortable and I like the style of it. I wish they would make some more cotton thongs in the style of some of their briefs (just with the thong back). Like you I didn't find the Oxford g-string comfortable at all.

I love their tan-through thongs. I love the variety of patterns and prints they come in and they are pretty much my go to style and cut being a classic front and rear thong. I've worn them for the beach and for lounging around in the summer and they are very comfortable. What I really like is that they are by design very breathable fabric which means they dry very quickly out of the water but also on a very hot day will be more comfortable to wear than other types. I've got quite a few of the different prints in the old style as they recently upgraded the tan-through material for their new designs.

Thanks for reading! I agree that their tan-through fabric is very impressive with the rate at which it dries.
