Thong ban on Fort Desoto?

I booked my annual Florida trip for April.  I decided to search online for any updates on beaches in the Saint Petersburg area and came across an article that Pinellas County is considering a ban on wearing thongs on county beaches.  I always look forward to spending time at the North end of Fort Desoto where thongs are quite common, usually the most common swimwear.
Does anyone have any updates or recommendations for other thong friendly beaches in the area?

I’ll have a few days on the East coast but not that far south.  I do plan on visiting Blind Creek or Playalinda.  I won’t need a thong at either

I moved from Fl in the early 1990s but wore a thong at either Ft Desoto or the North end of Clearwater just south of Caladesi.  But sadly I understand they are banned in Clearwater and they are considering banning in all of the county.
The most I will wear at the beach is a minimal bikini.

Good news!  I contacted the county and there are no swimwear restriction in the county.  Nudity is still banned as well as thongs in Clearwater city limits.  Looking forward to going to the beach!!!

Does anyone know if thongs and Gstrings are still allowed on Fort De Soto beaches legally?
