Last year, I stayed at the Hilton Lac Leamy in Ottawa. This hotel had an outdoor heated pool and a jacuzzi.

I showed up to the pool in a bath gown and I undressed in front of the life guards. The life guards didn't bat an eyelid when they saw me in a thong.

There was also a jacuzzi next to the pool and people in the jacuzzi didn't question my choice of swimwear.

But then, the manager came and told everyone to leave the pool section.

When I got back to the pool after breakfast, the life guards told me that the pool was closed as they had just added chlorine into the pool. That got me thinking. Did they close the pool because they thought someone in a thong had disinfected the pool?

So what do non-thongers think about thongs? Do they consider thongs to be unhygienic?

I wouldn’t begin to think that the wearing of a thong had anything to do with the addition of chlorine to the pool. Most likely it was routine scheduled maintenance. Even more true when everyone seemed to accept your choice in swimwear. I personally have never had anyone tell me that wear a thong equates to being unhygienic. More often I get either very positive reactions or occasionally someone will be unhappy with my choice of swimwear, but never due to hygiene.
Keep on wearing your thong. Be confident, it’s all good.
