I am sure that having some confidence with it changes everything - obviously I don't know what it's like yet but I expect that unless you're trying to be a nuisance, a lot fewer people will take more than a glancing look at you then I am worried about, and even fewer will actually confront you - hopefully.
When I first wore normal briefs walking back from the beach (after usually wearing shorts), having someone ask me directions and taking no notice was a huge boost.
